Nike to return as UEFA Champions League ball supplier

US sportswear brand, Nike, is set to return as Official Match Ball supplier for the UEFA Champions League from 2027 through 2031.

Nike will have to design a new ball as Adidas hold rights to the current star design.

The iconic Champions League ball will be redesigned next year after Nike entered exclusive talks with UEFA.

Nike edged current supplier, adidas and Puma, after offering an improved deal to UEFA.

Interestingly, Nike was match ball supplier between 1997 and 2001, before adidas moved in to replace the brand.

Adidas introduced the iconic Final ball, featuring a star design which looks like the Champions League logo. That design has been used in every match ball since and has become synonymous with the highest level of European football.

With Adidas holding design rights for the ball, the last match with the star ball will be the 2027 Champions League final, scheduled for June 5 at Atletico Madrid’s Estadio Metropolitano.
