Lookman boosts Nigerian presence in UEFA Champions League

For the first time since the 2020/21 UEFA Champions League, a Nigerian player, Ademola Lookman, will be on match day duty when the best stars in Europe converge for the semi-final of the biggest club tournament in the world.

Lookman’s Atletico Madrid will have to contend with Arsenal in one of the semi-finals.

Samuel Chukwueze, then with Spanish side was the last Nigerian to play in the semifinals, but his side lost to Liverpool.

Since joining the La Liga side, Lookman has wormed his way into the hearts of the fans to become their favourite.

He scored the only goal for his side in the second leg which was won by Barcelona, but Atleti qualified on aggregate.
