Former Saudi Arabian Professional League champions, Al-Nassr, based in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, has signed globally recognized football icon, Cristiano Ronaldo, in a mega deal for seven years.
The deal which will see Ronaldo earn over Euros 200million makes him the highest paid footballer in the world.
Ronaldo signed as a player for two-and-a-half years and the remaining part of the contract will serve as Saudi Arabia’s ambitious 2030 World Cup bid Ambassador.
According to a statement by the club: “History in the making. This is a signing that will not only inspire our club to achieve even greater success but inspire our league, our nation and future generations, boys and girls to be the best version of themselves.”
Reacting Ronaldo said: “I’m thrilled for a new experience in a different league and a different country, the vision that Al- Nassr has is inspiring.
“I’m excited to join my teammates and to help the team to achieve more success.”
Reports reveal that the deal is backed by the Saudi Arabian government.
Ronaldo will be at home in Riyadh as most of the coaches in the club’s backroom staff are Portuguese.
