PUMA and LALIGA boost El Clasico’s brand with Bespoke Match Ball

PUMA and LALIGA have unveiled a bespoke official match ball for this season’s two El Clásico fixtures between FC Barcelona and Real Madrid, combining performance technology with a design inspired by one of football’s biggest rivalries.

This represents another opportunity for PUMA and LALIGA to use El Clásico as a high-profile platform for product innovation and brand storytelling. With the fixture commanding a global audience, the match ball provides a prominent activation asset around two of the most commercially significant games in the domestic football calendar.

The limited-edition ball will make its on-pitch debut on October 25 when Barcelona host Real Madrid at Spotify Camp Nou in the first El Clásico of the 2026/27 campaign.

Designed specifically for the two headline fixtures, the ball features bold geometric shapes, vibrant colours and retro-inspired graphics, creating a visual identity that references the history of both clubs while giving the rivalry a contemporary look.

Despite its bespoke appearance, the ball retains the technical specifications of LALIGA’s official 2026/27 match ball.

Its seamless eight-panel construction is engineered to optimise aerodynamics and provide a stable, accurate flight path, while a 1.1mm 3D-textured polyurethane surface is designed to improve grip, touch and responsiveness in varying conditions.

The ball is also manufactured using high-frequency technology to support shape retention and durability under elite match conditions.

It carries FIFA Quality Pro certification, confirming that it meets the highest standards for professional football.

The design will be used for both El Clásico fixtures this season, giving PUMA and LALIGA a recurring branded presence around a rivalry that extends well beyond the pitch and into global sport, culture and commercial entertainment.

The El-Clasico will feature a gathering of some of the world’s best footballers on the same pitch.

On match day, seven Ballon d’Or nominees will converge for what will be the biggest match in Europe.

Real Madrid will have Marc Cucurella, Jude Bellingham, Vinícius Júnior and Kylian Mbappé, while Rodri, Lamine Yamal and Pau Cubarsí, will defend the colours of Barcelona.

These stars will enhance the unique appeal of a fixture that brings together sponsors, broadcasters, media and fans from around the world to enhance LaLiga’s PR.

Over 1,200 media accreditations were processed across the two EL-CLÁSICO fixtures during the 2025/2 season.
