FC Bayern’s South Korean star, Minjae Kim

German football club brand and perennial champions, FC Bayern Munich, has opened an office in the South Korean capital, Seoul, to expand their commercial presence, in the region.

The decision is a deliberate effort to reinforce FC Bayern’s internationalisation strategy as the brand seeks to strengthen their presence in an important growth region of Asia and aim to further expand their economic and social ties in South Korea.

Located at the premises of the German-Korean Chamber of Industry and Commerce, the club has named, Dong-Hoon Seo, as FC Bayern’s central point of contact in Seoul.

With the presence of one of South Korea’s best-known footballers in their squad, Minjae Kim, FC Bayern has the capacity to create engagement with the huge market in the region.

In 2024, FC Bayern played in Seoul as part of the Audi Summer Tour for the first time.

The FC Bayern brand is not new to the region as a sustained commitment has since been established with the partnership with the South Korean Football Association (KFA), which has been in place since 2019, integration of young South Korean players into the FC Bayern World Squad and the long-term cooperation with NEXEN TIRE, a leading global tyre manufacturer.

Internationalisation

The South Korea office will be club’s third office in Asia having opened an office in Bangkok, Thailand in 2022 and in Shanghai, China, in 2017.

In 2017 Bayern also became the first German side to establish a permanent presence in the US City of New York.
