Delta takes centrestage for National Sports Festival

 

 

After months of preparation, the stage is now set for the 21st edition of the National Sports festival, in Delta State.

The multi-sport event tagged Delta 2022, will run from November 28 through December 10, 2022.

Host, Delta State, is preparing a contingent of 1,000 athletes, the largest number ever witnessed in the history of the National Sports Festival.

 

 

States will compete in basketball, handball, volleyball, swimming, wrestling, judo, karate, taekwondo, kickboxing, table tennis team and football amongst others.

The event has attracted the attention of the private sector with Premium Trust Bank as a major sponsor. Others include Mouka Foam, Neconde, Shell, Seplat Energy and BETKING.

Delta won the last National Sports Festival, in Edo State and has dominated the event for the past six years.

A total of 11, 000 athletes will participate in Delta 2022 National Sports festival, which is about 2,000 more than the number that participated at the last edition held in Edo State.

The Festival Torch of Unity, which has been moving round the country, has arrived in Delta State and will begin a tour around all local government headquarters for chairmen and council officials to have a feel of it.
