Ikenne based Remo Stars defeated newly promoted second tier side, Smart City, 3-0 to win the ValueJet Pre-Season tournament, decided on Friday, at the Remo Stars Stadium.
A brace from newly signed winger, Adams Olamilekan and an own goal from Smart City’s Salawudeen Ismail, ensured the top flight side emerged victorious.
Ten teams: five from the Nigeria Professional Football League and five from the second tier Nigeria National League competed in the tournament.
It served as a platform for Nigeria’s teams campaigning in the Total Energies Confederation of African Football club tournaments to prepare their squad.
The teams are Rivers United, Plateau United, Remo Stars and Kwara United.
Founded in 2018 as a virtual airline brokering flights through other airlines, ValueJet has been moving to establish itself as Nigeria’s newest low-cost carrier.
