Thursday’s announcement by Nigerian fintech brand, Moniepoint, that it has secured the “biggest transfer deal” with Nigerian striker, Victor Osimhen, as Brand Ambassador, confirms the player is now in control of his image rights.
In a post on its X Account, Moniepoint, Nigeria’s fastest growing financial brand, unveiled a video where the Nigerian and Galatasaray striker signed the deal as the its first sports Brand Ambassador.
sportbusinessbrand.com can reveal that the striker was able to sign the deal following his permanent transfer from Italian side, Napoli, to the perennial Turkish champions.
With his record transfer, Osimhen’s team was able to take control of his image rights which will boost off-the-pitch revenue from commercial deals.
Moniepoint has been listed by Financial Times as one of Africa’s fastest growing companies.
In his first season in Turkey, on loan, Osimhen scored 37 goals and provided eight assists in 41 matches across all competitions as the club won both league and cup double.
In 2024, SportBusiness+Brand Magazine, listed Osimhen as Nigeria’s leading sports personality.
First Sponsorship deal
In April 2025, Osimhen appeared in his first ever television commercial for Ülker Çizi, a popular Turkish snack brand produced by Ülker.
The advertisement marked his first major endorsement following his loan move to Galatasaray. The campaign, which highlighted his impact in the Turkish Süper Lig, received significant attention on social media. While the collaboration featured Osimhen prominently, it was not officially confirmed as a long-term brand ambassadorship.
Speaking on the commercial for Ulker, he said: “First of all, I have to say a very big thank you to Ulker for putting me on this amazing project. I was excited when they presented the project to me. Playing football is what I love and having fun while doing it is even more amazing.
“It was a great experience. I have to say a thank you once again to ulcer. It brought in another ability and talent with me. For me, it was really amazing.”
sportbusinessbran.com believes that as Nigeria’s biggest football international and Turkey’s most marketable on-the-pitch brand, Osimhen will receive more proposals in the days ahead.
Osimhen as Fan Engagement strategy for Brands
Apart from his intimidating goal scoring form, Osimhen’s ability to engage fans creatively remains a significant strategy that innovative brands will be after.
Brands pursue engagement to foster deeper customer relationships, which builds loyalty and advocacy, increases sales and revenue, provides valuable feedback, and helps establish a consistent brand identity and values.
High engagement also creates emotional connections with audiences, ultimately leading to long-term growth and a competitive edge, which is guaranteed with Brand Osimhen.
