Turkish Airlines becomes UEFA Champions League first airline sector sponsor

 

 

 

 

 

Leading sponsor of elite sports properties, Turkish Airlines, on Monday became the first airline global sponsor of the prestigious UEFA Champions League.

The announcement was made ahead of the group stage of the 2023 UEFA Champions League, which begins on Tuesday, September 6, 2022, with the Final scheduled for Istanbul, at the Istanbul Ataturk Olympic Stadium.

 

For the Airline, which is Turkey’s national carrier, this prestigious cooperation is one of the most important sponsorships in Turkish sports history.

The brand is not new to UEFA competitions as in December 2015, it became the first airline to partner with UEFA as its official airline sponsor for UEFA EURO 2016, which took place in France.

 

As part of the agreement, Turkish Airlines’ logo will be placed on many fields and LED screens before, during, and after the match broadcast.

“We both share a global reach, connecting fans across continents and we are delighted that their debut season as a partner will culminate in the final of this prestigious tournament taking place on home soil in Istanbul. We both share similar passions, and truly believe that the sky is the limit when it comes to our partnership.”

Ahmet Bolat, Turkish Airlines chairman, added: “As the flag carrier airline of our country, we are proud of our sponsorship of the UEFA Champions League, one of the biggest sports competitions in the world.

“With this sponsorship, we will carry the Turkish Airlines brand throughout the world and bring the whole world together in Istanbul on June 10, 2023.

“We believe in the unifying power of sports that brings different cultures together and we aim to continue to take part in the world’s leading tournaments.”

The airline joins an exclusive list of global Champions League sponsors which includes Heineken, PepsiCo, FedEx, MasterCard, Just Eat and Oppo.
