Can Man Utd equal Arsenal’s FA Cup record?

Manchester United head into the second FA Cup Semi-Final against Brighton & Hove Albion, on Sunday, hoping to equal Arsenal’s 21 Cup finals record.

United hold the record semi-final appearances (31), but have to do much more to reach the finals.

Since winning 13 semi finals in a row between 1976 and 2007, the Red Devils have now lost three of their last five at this stage.

Their last FA Cup semi came against Chelsea in 2020 where they were beaten 3-1, and their recent record against Brighton is a concern, having lost their last two against the Seagulls.

Erik Ten Hag’s side will have to forget their Europa Cup failure, on Wednesday, to face a resurgent Brighton side.

Victory in today’s final will set the stage for a Manchester Derby, in the FA Cup, final, in June, after neighbours Man City, dismissed Sheffield United, on Saturday.

On the other hand, Brighton, placed 8th on the Premier League log are now one of the country’s most admired clubs.

Now, in their second semi-final in five years and, for many, favourites to reach this season’s showpiece which would be a first FA Cup final for the club since 1983.

Interestingly, they faced Man United in that Cup final.
