No fewer than 25,000 women will compete at the 2022 edition of the Lagos Women Run Marathon scheduled for Saturday, November 12.
Since its inception seven years ago, the brand has continued to grow and presently ranks amongst the top marathon races in the African continent.
Coordinator for the Lagos Women Run, Tayo Popoola, stated that over 18,000 runners registered online, while over 10,000 printed physical forms are now being collated.
Tomorrow’s race will start from the Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS), Lagos Island, and end at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena (formerly Onikan Stadium), on Lagos Island.
She added that this year’s route has been carefully mapped out to give the participants a good feel of the city and showcase the growing beauty of Lagos State to the world.
“There are many people that will be coming from outside of Lagos for this race, so we want to showcase the beauty of our state. This year, we will be going on a loop starting from TBS, towards Awolowo Road, Falomo Bridge through Olusola down and finish at Onikan,” she said.
Popoola expressed gratitude to the Lagos State Government, Lagos Sports Commission, sponsors and the media for making the Lagos Women Run a world-class event.
