2024
Back in 2024, Under Armour signed Torres as a Brand Ambassador to boost its presence in Spain.
“Spain is a fast-growing market for Under Armour and Torres will play a major role in continuing that expansion in the coming years. He joins Fermin Lopez and Marc Casadó (both of Barcelona FC), as part of Under Armour’s Spanish athlete roster which also includes Tottenham FC’s right-back Pedro Porro and football icon Antonio Rüdiger of Real Madrid and the German National team”, the brand said in a statement after securing the deal.
Adding that: “Torres will be playing in Under Armour’s Shadow Elite 2 boots, designed for players who need speed and agility in their game, which suits the devastating attacking form of Torres”.
Reacting after joining Under Armour’s squad, he said: Joining an iconic sports brand like Under Armour, who strive to make athletes better, is a perfect match for me. I look forward to growing in my career with them, as they rapidly expand in football and in my home country of Spain”.
2026
Torres, an Under Armour ambassador, scored the tournament’s defining goal wearing UA’s most advanced boot, the new Shadow Elite 4.

In that instant, the brand received what marketers dream of; global visibility at the exact moment billions of eyes were fixed on a single player. No advertising campaign, regardless of budget, could have replicated the authenticity of that moment.
How Under Armour is leveraging the goal
The Under Armour Team dropped a statement on its website to leverage the goal.
“Under Armour athlete Ferran Torres etched his name into soccer history on Sunday, scoring the lone goal of the 2026 FIFA World Cup Final to lift Spain to a 1-0 victory against Argentina. He found the breakthrough in the 106th minute of extra time, delivering the decisive strike that secured Spain’s second-ever world title.
“Torres’ extra-time goal marked one of the defining moments in international soccer this year, showcasing the composure, confidence and finishing ability that have made him one of the game’s most dangerous attacking players.
“As the world watched, Torres scored the difference-making goal wearing the Under Armour Shadow Elite 4 Mach FG Cleat. Engineered for explosive moment, agility and control, the Elite 4 is designed to help players create separation when the pressure is highest.
“Its standout performance features include: ultra-light-weight construction, carbon fibre outsole, micro warp upper, 3D haptic micro texture and 3D heel reinforcement.
“Together, these innovations are designed to deliver explosive acceleration, stability when striking the ball and confident ball control under pressure, the exact qualities Torres showcased in the decisive moments of the match.
“Congratulations to Ferran Torres, fellow Under Armour athlete Pedro Porro and the entire Spanish squad on an unforgettable championship run. Their performance on soccer’s biggest stage marks a historic moment for Spain and for Under Armour Football.”
The power of sports marketing.
Fans will not remember the boot because of a television commercial; they remember it because it was on the feet of the player who made history.
The product became part of the story. Every replay, every newspaper front page, every social media clip and highlight package reinforced the same visual message: the World Cup winning goal was scored in Under Armour boots.
For a brand competing against football giants such as Nike and Adidas, this is priceless public relations.
Under Armour did not need to interrupt the match with advertisements. The game itself became the advertisement. The winning goal transformed its boots from sports equipment into a symbol of victory.
The company’s decision to leverage the moment is not surprising. Smart brands understand that emotional connections sell products more effectively than slogans.
By celebrating Torres’ achievement across digital platforms and marketing campaigns, Under Armour is extending the lifespan of a single moment into months of brand engagement and consumer interest.
The lesson is simple: sponsorship is no longer just about logos on shirts or billboards around stadiums. It is about being attached to defining moments in sport.
When an athlete succeeds, the brands associated with them share in the glory.
Priceless Brand Equity
Spain may have lifted the World Cup trophy, but Under Armour lifted something equally valuable in the business world, global brand equity.
Ferran Torres scored one goal, yet that single strike delivered millions of dollars’ worth of earned media, social engagement, and worldwide recognition.
Sometimes, the most important victory in football is not won on the scoreboard.
It is won in the minds of consumers, where one unforgettable goal can turn a pair of boots into one of the most talked-about products in world sport.
Mission Accomplished
With Torres’ goal at the World Cup, Under Armour has earned a huge boost not only in the Spanish market, but also in the global football market.
