Twelve times Swedish champions, Djurgården have completed the signing of Boreham Wood forward, Abdul Oluwatosin Abdulmalik, for a National League record initial fee of £1.5 million to erase Jamie Vardy’s record.
Born in London, he is of Nigerian descent.
Abdumalik’s transfer eclipses the previous National League record, set in 2012 when Leicester City paid Fleetwood Town £1 million for Jamie Vardy.
The deal could rise further through add-ons, while Boreham Wood have also negotiated a sell-on clause as part of the agreement.
Abdulmalik completed his medical in Sweden after the two clubs reached an agreement on Sunday morning, bringing an end to a lengthy transfer saga.
The 2025-26 campaign proved to be a breakthrough season for the former Millwall academy player, who scored 17 goals and registered 10 assists as Boreham Wood reached the National League play-off final. He also scored and provided an assist in the final at Wembley.
Boreham Wood had previously rejected bids of £1 million and £1.5 million for the forward earlier this summer before eventually agreeing to his departure.
Abdulmalik said: “I’m ready for the next challenge. I’m ready to prove to myself and those around me that I’m capable of reaching the top.”
The forward scored in his final appearance for Boreham Wood in mid-August but was subsequently unavailable for selection as he sought to secure a move away from the club.
