The Bureau of the FIFA Council has approved the appointment of a Normalisation Committee to oversee the affairs of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) pending fresh elections into the federation’s Executive Committee.
The decision was communicated in a letter signed by FIFA Secretary General, Mattias Grafström, and addressed to Dr Emmanuel Ikpeme, MON.

The appointment is expected to provide an interim administrative framework for the federation ahead of the election of a new NFF Executive Committee.
According to the letter, the committee will comprise a suitable number of members to be jointly appointed by FIFA and the Confederation of African Football (CAF) as soon as possible.
FIFA stated that the committee’s tenure would end upon the completion of its assigned responsibilities, but no later than May 31, 2027.
The committee will be responsible for overseeing the federation’s affairs during the normalisation period and preparing the ground for fresh elections into the NFF Executive Committee.
FIFA also stipulated that none of the committee members would be eligible to contest any of the positions to be filled in the forthcoming NFF elections.
Meanwhile, the NFF Secretariat will continue to handle the federation’s day-to-day administration and the routine management of Nigerian football until the Normalisation Committee is formally appointed.
